2008 Alumni Weekend  -April 4-5, 2008
Letter by Phyllis Johnson Scaggs 85'

Dear Choir Alumni Friends,

I am writing to let you know about a very special project of the Choir Alumni. Word has gotten out to most of you but to ensure everyone knows we are including this info on the Choir website.

Brewton Parker has just completed building a new wing onto the already existing music building. It has been named the Hildegard Stanley Music Center. The Choir Alums want to honor Hiddie with a gift. There are two things we want to do. First, we are going to pay for the three Lamp Posts that are located in front of the building. A gold plaque stating Hiddie's years of service (divided among the three poles) will be mounted on each. The second, is to pay for two cases, one that is free standing on the floor and one that will mount on the wall. Both are lockable cases for security to house Hiddie's memorabilia.

We would like to have these in place by the building dedication April 5, 2008. There are several ways you can give a monetary gift. First, on the college website(www.bpc.edu ) is a pay site where you can pay or pledge. Secondly, you can always send a check or money order in. Please make sure that you have marked on your check specifically for the Hildegard Stanley Music Center. Some alums are pledging so much each month, and others are giving lump sums or both.

I really want to encourage you to come for Alumni weekend April 4-5, 2008. It is always such fun. On Saturday the alumni choir and the current college choir will be singing on the dedication program under Hiddie's direction. And that is always an inspiration and fun!!!

Alumni choir will be joined by the college choir and sing "Psalm 150" by Howard Hanson and "Expression of Gratitude" by David Schwoeble. Also, a hymn has been written for the dedication by R.G. Huff, the lyricist who wrote "Fill the Earth With Music". Accompanists are: Natalie Beall, piano; Bill Taylor, organ. If you can stay over on Saturday night you will want to attend the college Music Showcase in Vidalia which has become an annual event. It features all the college ensembles.

To ensure that everyone gets the word about this project, and the building dedication, please tell all your BPC friends about it, and especially if you think we may not have contact information for them. If your email or contact info has changed, please let Shannon Bull, the Alumni Director, Hiddie or myself know so we can update the alumni records.
